Celebrating their 25th anniversary, the legendary New York rock band the Spin Doctors will return to the UK in February to perform three lives dates as part of their European tour.
Fans can expect lead singer Chris Barron, drummer Aaron Comess, guitarist Eric Schenkman and bassist Mark White to perform new favourites from their new album ‘If The River Was Whiskey’, plus the hits from their back catalogue, including the huge 1993 hit single ‘Two Princes’ from the band’s multi-platinum debut studio album ‘A Pocket Full of Kryptonite’.
‘If The River Was Whiskey’ was released in May 2013, and was a return to the blues sound the Spin Doctors were first known for on the New York City club circuit at the end of the ‘80s. The album saw the band receive the best reviews of their career. Chris Barron says, "We did done something right, I guess. We had never done a straight-up blues album before. We managed to sound old-school without being crusty and clichéd, and all the songs are original."
The Spin Doctors were originally due to play a one-off show in London last September, but lead singer Chris Barron developed a temporary callous on his vocal chords, which required immediate rest. Chris wasn’t allowed to talk, let alone sing, for a month and the band had to postpone their entire European tour. But now, with Chris fully recovered, the band have added a two extra UK dates for the rescheduled tour.
As the Spin Doctors prepare for the tour, Chris Barron has a promise for the fans: "If you come to one of our shows you can expect us to play our guts out. We work really hard on our songs so you don’t have to worry about listening to a bunch of crap just to hear the songs you know." Barron adds, “If you honestly don't think we played our hearts out, I'll buy you a pint."
The Spin Doctors’ UK tour dates are as follows:
Thursday, 20th Feb - Mechanics, Burnley (buy tickets)
Friday, 21st Feb – Fairfield Hall, Croydon (buy tickets)
Saturday 22nd – The Garage, London (buy tickets)
