David Crosby, Stephen Stills, Graham Nash, and Neil Young announce the release of CSNY 1974, the long awaited boxed set from their historic 1974 tour will be available July 7/8. The forty (40) previously unreleased tracks recorded forty (40) years ago will be packaged in several formats and configurations and released July 7 in international territories, and July 8 in the United States. The box set includes all 40 tracks, a 188-page booklet of never before seen tour photos, and a bonus DVD of previously unreleased concert footage; the box is available as a 3CD/DVD set or Pure Audio Blu-Ray (192kHz/24-bit)/DVD set.

Long-rumored and highly anticipated, CSNY 1974 captures the band’s one-of-a-kind harmonic alchemy during its remarkable outdoor stadium tour, a trek that spanned more than two months, and included 31 concerts, in 24 cities, with combined audiences of over a million people. Produced by Graham Nash and Joel Bernstein, the box set mirrors the electric/acoustic/electric format that the band followed each night on stage, representing an idealized version of a show from the tour.

"This project has been the most difficult, yet rewarding work I’ve ever done in my 50 years of recording," says Graham Nash. "It rekindled the love I have for my partners and the music we have made together."

The box set includes some of CSNY’s best-known music; songs like "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes," "Helpless," "Wooden Ships," and "Teach Your Children." During the 1974 tour, CSNY also introduced new songs that emerged later on various albums, like Crosby’s "Time After Time," Nash’s "Fieldworker," and Stills’ "First Things First." Several songs by Young are previously unreleased, including "Traces," "Love/Art Blues," "Goodbye Dick," and "Hawaiian Sunrise."

CSNY 1974 will be available from CSNY and Rhino in several different configurations listed below, on July 7/8, nearly 40 years to the date after the tour’s first show on July 9, 1974.

The Goastt (Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger) at
Mississippi Studios in Portland, Oregon on May 24th 2014.

To say I was excited to see Sean Lennon and his band The Goastt would be a total understatement and that was the vibe at Mississippi Studios for Goastt’s sold out show on May 24th. Everyone was excited that Sean Lennon was in their town!

The show started at 9pm with a band from Canterbury, England called Syd Arthur, made up of four lads Liam Magill/singer, guitar, Joel Magill/bass, Raven Bush/violin, keyboards, mandolin, and Fred Rother/drums. The name of the band is derived from Buddah, Syd Barrett, and Arthur Lee. They did a great job warming up the crowd with a 40 minute set of whimsical, melodic progressive rock wrapped around the psychedelic 60’s.
Goastt hit the stage at about 10:10pm and after the first song, “Too Deep” Sean explained that the name of the band came from a short story his girlfriend Charlotte Kemp Muhl wrote as a child. Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger (Goastt) is Sean Lennon on vocals and guitar, Charlotte Kemp Muhl on bass and vocals, Conner Grant/percussion and there is actually another band within Goastt called Invisible Familiars consisting of Jared Samuel/keyboards, Tim Kuhl/drums, and Robbie ‘Seahag’ Mangano/guitar.
“Xanadu” was the second song on the set, a sexy tune with a kaleidoscope of sound from the funky rhythm, the haunting synthesizer, the shaking of the tambourine, the cries of the wah-wah pedal, and on top is Sean’s mellow voice singing of anarchy. Sean is very relaxed on stage whether he’s performing or talking and the audience enjoyed his jokes and stories between songs. At one point, during one of Sean’s witty stories, Charlotte said, “Can we just play Animals now?” evoking more laughter from the audience.
Goastt not only performed songs from their latest album 'Midnight Sun,' but they included songs from their last two albums 'La Carotte Bleue' and 'Acoustic Sessions.'  Their sound is very unique and grooves around Sean and Charlotte’s harmonized duets. “Animals” is just one example of how their voices compliment eachother and take you on a dark and dreamy trip through lyrics of mystery.

Goastt performed two superb covers. Both are included on the new album ‘Midnight Sun.’ The first song was written in 1947 by Victor Young, Jay Livingston and Ray Evans called, “Golden Earings ,“ and sung by Peggy Lee. The Goastt did an excellent job updating this song with a slow eerie psychedelic rock sound in which Sean delivered a mean guitar solo making me fall powerlessly into the dark heart of the song. The second cover they played was Syd Barrett’s “Long Gone,” and they ended the concert with this stunning performance.
There is no denying the chemistry between Sean Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl.  Together they have created a sound all their own, which proves to be difficult these days, and gave a top shelf performance of brilliant music that sounded as great, if not better, than on their albums.  This was an experience that will stay with me forever!  They are on the last leg of their tour playing in Toronto and Montreal, Canada, then heading to the East Coast to finish with four more shows, catch em' if you can!

BLACK STAR RIDERS WELCOME ROBBIE CRANE

Black Star Riders announce the departure of bass player Marco Mendoza after the band’s current US tour, ending June 22ndand the arrival of new bassist, Robbie Crane.

Marco, a founding member of Black Star Riders, has decided to pursue other projects after potential conflicts in schedules.

His replacement will be Robbie Crane (formerly of Ratt, Vince Neil and Lynch Mob).

Scott Gorham ‘I am very sad to see Marco go. We have been together in a band now for almost 20 years and Marco is my brother and we wish him well for the future. It’s an amicable parting of ways and we all respect that Marco wants to do other projects outside of Black Star Riders and there just isn’t time to do both’

Ricky Warwick ‘Marco will always be part of the BSR family and a true friend of ours.  We are very happy to introduce Robbie Crane to everyone as the new BSR bass player. The guy killed the audition and we can’t wait to get on stage with him on our Euro run starting mid July and then of course in the studio in the Autumn for the recording of the second Black Star Riders Record’

Marco Mendoza ‘I loved my time in Black Star Riders and want to thank all the fans for making the last year on road so successful. I am sorry to be leaving the band but I feel it’s time for me to pursue other avenues, some of which I have already been working with, all of which I am very excited about. I wish the guys all success in the future and I am very happy that my friend Robbie Crane will continue to blaze with BSR’

Leon Russell, Steve Morse & Pat Travers Lead A Stellar Cast Of Music Superstars On This Tribute To The Legendary Allman Brothers Band!

Also features Commander Cody, Molly Hatchet, The Oak Ridge Boys, Artimus Pyle Band, Reese Wynans (Double Trouble), Tinsley Ellis, Robben Ford & more!

One of music’s biggest and most influential juggernauts gets the respect and admiration they so richly deserve on this brand new tribute album available May 27th from Cleopatra Records! Featuring an eclectic group of rock, country, and blues legends, Midnight Rider - A Tribute To The Allman Brothers Band offers energetic new covers of the classic hits “Midnight Rider,” “Ramblin’ Man,” and “Whipping Post” as well as one of the most famous instrumental songs in all of rock music “Jessica,” alongside many more Southern fried favorites!

“The Allman Brothers were a central part of my roots,” proclaims guitarist Steve Morse, who shreds his way through a smoldering version of “Whipping Post” on the album. “Living in Georgia much of my life, they were the local legends that everybody loved. They had the swing, the inventive double guitar parts, the ability to jam just long enough to keep the audience, and that golden voice of Greg’s! When my instrumental rock band, the Dixie Dregs, played, we often played ‘Jessica,’ which automatically makes any audience start moving and smiling. I’ve been lucky enough to sit in with many of the members at various times, and we have shared a lot of common ground. I’m still a fan!”

Duane Allen, lead vocalist for country legends The Oak Ridge Boys, declares, “‘Ramblin’ Man’ is the national anthem of Southern Rock & Roll, so it is a huge honor to be asked to be a part of this tribute.” Allen’s sentiments are echoed by several other participants including blues guitarist Eric Gales who considered it a “great honor” and Tinsley Ellis who also speaks enthusiastically of the group as “one of a handful of musical acts, along with Ray Charles and Willie Nelson, that are considered to be a genre unto themselves. It is a great honor to be among the other stellar acts paying tribute to such a legendary and influential American band.”

Speaking for a next generation of blues rock artists, Eli Cook offers both high praise and a word of advice: “The Allman Brothers’ story of talent, hard work, and blind devotion to creating an honest and unique sound is one that every artist should study and imitate. Just as they cut their teeth on Taj Mahal, Cream, Elmore James, and all the great early R&B artists, today’s players are wise to woodshed with the Eat A Peach and Live At The Fillmore albums.” Or just pick up a copy of Midnight Rider - A Tribute To The Allman Brothers Band and let these boys show you how it’s done!

1. Midnight Rider - Pat Travers
2. Ramblin’ Man - Oak Ridge Boys, Tinsley Ellis & Kevin McKendree

All-Star Concept Album Featuring Drum Legend Simon Phillips, Toto's Joseph Williams, and Uriah Heep's John Lawton Now Available!

Asheville, NC - Possibly the most anticipated new release of 2014, My Kind O' Lovin' featuring drum legend Simon Phillips, Toto's Joseph Williams, and Uriah Heep/Lucifer's Friend's John Lawton, is now available! Released on the heels of 2012's hit album The Power Of Mind, featuring John Lawton, My Kind O' Lovin' is another innovative new CD, conceived, written and produced by the CGI member, and as of very recently European Citizen of the Year (2013) Dr. Milen Vrabevski. This next charity project of his is dedicated to young talents in EU.

Says Milen, “I allowed myself to play acoustic guitar in just the title song this time. Nothing else. The team was just too good for my level. Happy they liked the pieces. Many thanks to the guys I started this project with, and worked on the arrangements: Ivo Stefanov and Svurry, and to the whole all star band for their devotion.”

Pulling up a chair at Classic Rock Revisited’s Best Releases 2012 with Intelligent Music Project I, The Power of Mind producer Milen Vrabevski is setting a high standard of expectations with his Intelligent Music Project II, My Kind O' Lovin'. The producer's next charity project goes to support education programs for talented kids. Milen was awarded European Citizen of the Year 2013 (by the EU Parliament), and a Member of the Clinton Global Initiative.

My Kind O' Lovin' features a colorful, multifarious and formidable listening experience with hints of melodic hard rock and early prog, featuring the fabulous Simon Phillips (Toto, Jeff Beck, The Who, Mike Oldfield, Protocol II etc.) on drums & percussion - brilliantly bringing out the chemistry of this unpredictable format of vintage vocals from John Lawton (ex-Uriah Heep) and Joseph Williams (Toto). Strong melodies and acoustic patterns with impressive vocals of undiminished power - this hefty emotional pool comes across in a very melodic way featuring great lead guitar and spacious orchestral flourishes.

The author translates to the audience his own experience & vision about everyday life topics in an easy manner, focusing on essential values – solid ground to step on to having a meaningful life.

Says Milen, “The message of the album is what I, as an author, would prefer to raise my kids with. Frustration, constant criticism, and judging people leads to nowhere. Therefore, we present essential things about love, friendship, our own environment we should invest in, getting into substantial initiatives, knowing happiness through serving the others, not limiting our minds with prejudice while seeking togetherness, understanding our life is in our hands, finishing off with the principle that it's good to wake up knowing what follows is a great day, in which fame does not matter, and ego's domination is retrograde, and you enjoy to live for the others, doing things not because of the result, but because you love to be that way.”

Watch the official My Kind O' Lovin' promotional video here:

Stand out tracks:

“Get Into Real” - if there is a song from this side act that connects the dots with some of William's Toto-related cuts, this is it, but with hints of Led Zep to Asia nuances.

“Happiness”- a track so cool it deserves a trip around the world. You can take a magic trip through the positive messages of the album via Simple Game, Things We Can’t Do, Love Song to the rockin' No One Can Deny It, Time To Move Along and other pieces on this hit collection.

“Conclusion” - a 6-minute summary of the composer’s key approaches throughout the album and presents the audience with the magnificent culmination of the super group Phillips-Lawton-Williams, the front-men format of Intelligent Music Project II.

Recording sessions for drums (Simon Phillips) and vocals (Joseph Williams) took place at Simon Phillips' Phantom Recordings studio. Producer and composer Vrabevski was provided full creative input by Simon Philips in developing the course of compositions and musical ideas. Says Milen, “We recorded all drums and percussion, and Joe's vocal parts at Simon's recording studio in LA. Simon devotedly played the role of our music co-producer there too. Now he's been kind enough to take part in finalizing all mixes of MKL tracks.

Simon Phillips is an iconic English drummer and producer. He is also a prolific session drummer, and has played with such well known music artists as The Who, Judas Priest, Jeff Beck, Tears for Fears, Mike Oldfield, Pete Townshend, the late Gary Moore and many others.

Working on this project with Milen Vrabevski was so much fun and I find his enthusiasm for music is so uplifting.” - Simon Phillips

Joseph Williams was part of four Toto albums – Fahrenheit (1986), The Seventh One (1988), Toto XX (1988) and Falling in Between (2006). He has since re-joined the touring edition of Toto for a series of shows across Europe and Japan.

Milen was such a joy to work with .. Truly a warm and bright gentleman. It's rare thing these days to work with such happy, enthusiastic talented people ... I had a ball!! - Joseph Williams

John Lawton, who split with Uriah Heep in 1979, was featured on the albums Innocent Victim (1977), Firefly (1977), Fallen Angel (1978) and Live ’79 and is considered the best singer around the British heavy progressive rock institution. After recording the conceptual album The Power Of Mind, Intelligent Music Project I, he joins the super group with Phillips and Williams in the second project of Bulgarian producer and composer Milen Vrabevski – My Kind O' Lovin'.

“My Kind O' Lovin'....Intelligent Music Project II....was for me an absolute pleasure to sing, the melodies flowing out of Milen Vrabevski's head seem to be endless. The album differs a lot from The Power Of Mind, not only in that there are guest artist's in the caliber of Joseph Williams and Simon Phillips both of Toto fame but some searing guitar work from a little known Bulgarian axe man known only to me as Sverri. I spent 2 weeks laying down lead & backing vocals in Intelligent Music's new studio in Sofia / Bulgaria and believe me it wasn't hard work, not when the music is this good.” - John Lawton

Welsh Legends Reissue Two Classic Albums in Upgraded and Extended Formats, The Twang Dynasty and Call Down The Moon Released In July

Welsh Legends Man reissue two classic albums from the nineties through Esoteric/Cherry Red in July. Both albums have restored artwork and have been extended to include bonus material. In the case of The Twang Dynasty the album has been increased to a boxed set containing three discs. The Call Down The Moon reissue also features two bonus cuts not included on the original release:

Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce the expanded release of Man’s classic 1992 studio album "The Twang Dynasty”. Although Man had reformed in 1983 to perform live, "The Twang Dynasty” was Man’s first studio record release in sixteen years. Featuring a line-up of MICKY JONES (Guitar, Vocals), DEKE LEONARD (Guitar, Vocals), MARTIN ACE (Bass, Vocals) and JOHN WEATHERS (drums), "The Twang Dynasty” featured excellent material such as ‘A Feather on the Scales of Justice’, ‘The Chinese Cut’ and ‘The Wings of Mercury’ (dedicated to the late John Cipollina of Quicksilver Messenger Service who had performed with MAN).

The deluxe set is newly re-mastered and features two additional CDs of Man’s complete set at Glastonbury Festival on 25th June 1994, featuring many tracks from "The Twang Dynasty”, along with splendid performances of classic tracks such as ‘C’Mon’, ‘Many Are Called, But Few Get Up’, ‘Bananas’ and ‘Romain’. The set also includes an illustrated booklet with new essay and photographs.

GREGG ALLMAN AND PRODUCERS OF "MIDNIGHT RIDER" MOVIE
SUED OVER FATAL TRAIN ACCIDENT

SAVANNAH, Ga. — Singer Gregg Allman was sued Wednesday along with movie producers, a railroad company and others accused of being responsible for the February death of a young camera assistant when a freight train slammed into a film crew in southeast Georgia.

The lawsuit filed in Chatham County State Court by the parents of 27-year-old Sarah Jones targets 10 individuals associated with the film “Midnight Rider,” based on the Allman Brothers Band singer’s memoir. It also goes after eight corporations including CSX Transportation, which owns the railroad tracks where the crash occurred, and forest-products manufacturer Rayonier, which owns the land surrounding the crash site.

Filmmakers “selected an unreasonably dangerous site for the filming location; failed to secure approval for filming from CSX; concealed their lack of approval from CSX from the cast and crew ... and otherwise failed to take measures to protect the safety of the ‘Midnight Rider’ cast and crew,” the lawsuit charges. It was filed on behalf of Jones’ parents, Richard and Elizabeth Jones of Columbia, South Carolina.

Allman was named as a defendant in his role as an executive producer on the film. Also included were director Randall Miller, his production company Unclaimed Freight Productions and several of Miller’s assistants on the film along with companies assisting with the production.

The lawsuit says Rayonier should be held accountable for allowing the film crew onto its property. It says a company employee wrongly told the crew “only two trains would pass by on the railroad track per day.” It says CSX did not give permission for the crew to film on its tracks, but the company knew shooting would be taking place in the area and should have taken precautions.
Sarah Jones was struck and killed by a train during the first day of filming in Georgia.

“Despite the fact that multiple CSX trains passed the ‘Midnight Rider’ cast and crew on February 20, with those individuals in view of the trains’ operators, no warning was given to the subsequent train that ultimately caused Sarah’s death,” the lawsuit said.

Production on “Midnight Rider” had just begun Feb. 20 when a freight train crossing the Altamaha River in southeast Georgia slammed into crew members shooting on the railroad bridge. Sarah Jones, a 27-year-old camera assistant from Atlanta, was killed and six other crew members were hurt.

Sheriff’s investigators in rural Wayne County, where the crash occurred, say Miller’s crew had permission to be on the property abutting the bridge. But investigators say CSX Railroad, which owns the train tracks, denied giving producers a permit to be on the tracks themselves. The train smashed into a metal-framed bed that the film crew had placed across the tracks.
Producers suspended work on the movie indefinitely the following week. Actor William Hurt, who was to star as Allman and was at the scene of the crash, later issued a statement saying he informed producers he would no longer work on the film.

Authorities have yet to decide whether to file criminal charges in the case. Allman, meanwhile, sued Miller and his production company to win back the film rights to his life story. The singer dropped the lawsuit last week after he and the director reached an agreement out of court. Attorneys on both sides declined to reveal the terms.

Jones’ parents told The Associated Press in an interview April 10 that the film’s producers needlessly put workers at risk the day their daughter was killed. They said they hired attorneys to help them hold someone accountable.

“They did so many wrong things on so many levels, it’s just unbelievable,” Richard Jones said. “This should not have happened. It’s senseless.”

Miller took the witness stand last week during a court hearing in Allman’s lawsuit and said his assistants were in charge of location permits and safety precautions. The director bristled at any suggestion that he had been cavalier about the crew’s safety.

Legendary Curved Air Founding Member Darryl Way
To Release New Prog Album
'Children of the Cosmos'

“...a trail blazing rock violinist and composer!”

Much to the excitement of prog fans worldwide, legendary Curved Air founding member and violinist, Darryl Way is releasing a new album on Right Honourable Records, via Cherry Red on May 19, 2014.

'Children of the Cosmos' is Way’s first prog album in over twenty years and demonstrates his creative view of Progressive Rock, forty years after being one of the early founders of the genre. 'Children of the Cosmos' features 12 new tracks showcasing Way’s original compositional, rock violin and vocal skills.

A promo video for the title track has been released on YouTube:

http://youtu.be/LSoFBKfV-Vo

Says Darryl, “With ‘Children of the Cosmos’ I have tried to recreate the spirit of experimentation that led to the ‘Progressive Rock’ movement of the late 60s and early 70s. As I did in the early days of Curved Air, I have tried to integrate my classical background with rock music, to create soundscapes that are hopefully both exciting and innovative.”

Way continued, “The lyrics for the songs are my observations of our current environment and the world we live in, echoing some of the issues touched upon in the music of the late 60s. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to pass this way once more and I hope that rock fans will enjoy this album, as much as I did creating it.”

Originally formed in 1969, Curved Air was a groundbreaking progressive art-rock band renowned for their showmanship. Darryl Way was noted for his flamboyant virtuoso exploration of the electric violin. He wrote the music for the Top 10 hit (reached #4) “Back Street Luv” and was a major contributor to three Top 20 albums. With Curved Air he toured extensively, performing in practically every major city in both America and Europe.

After Curved Air Darryl went on to release several critically acclaimed solo albums in both 'rock' and 'classical' genres. Among these, was his 'Concerto For Electric Violin'...and now, he will be releasing his highly anticipated new CD 'Children of the Cosmos'!
