Legendary singer-songwriter David Crosby will release Croz, his first solo album of studio material in 20 years, on January 27, 2014 internationally and in the U.K., and January 28 in the U.S. Featuring 11 new original songs, Croz will come out as a digital and physical release on Blue Castle Records, the label Crosby co-founded with Graham Nash in 2011; distribution is through ADA.  David Crosby, James Raymond, and Daniel Garcia produced Croz; and, Crosby and Raymond (David Crosby’s son) co-wrote a number of the songs together. In addition to Crosby’s band, the album features guest players including Wynton Marsalis (“Holding On To Nothing”), Mark Knopfler (“What’s Broken”), Leland Sklar (“Find A Heart”) and Steve Tavaglione (“Morning Falling,” “Find A Heart”).

David Crosby has been through a lot since his last solo LP came out in 1993. He got a new liver, met the son he gave up for adoption decades earlier and started a band with him; mounted three huge CSNY reunion tours; fathered Melissa Etheridge's two children via artificial insemination; and got arrested for gun possession. He channeled those experiences into his mellow, moody new solo set CROZ. "Most guys my age would have done a covers record," he says. "This will probably sell 19 copies. I'm making it for me."

Recorded partly at Jackson Browne's Santa Monica studio, CROZ (due January 28th) ranges from "Morning Falling," about American drone strikes, to "If She Called," inspired by a group of prostitutes he saw near his hotel in Belgium. "They were trying to entice these drunk animals," he says. "I started thinking about how they hide their heart, their soul, their spirit, while they do it."

Crosby will promote the record with club shows early next year. After that, he hopes to tour with some old friends. "It will either be Crosby, Stills and Nash or - I hesitate to even say it - Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. That's a complete unknown quantity until I hear from Neil."
Crosby swears that CSNY will finally release the long-delayed live LP and DVD documenting their debauched 1974 reunion tour next spring. Just don't expect to see their marathon gig at London's Wembley Stadium. "Nope," he says. "We were a little too jittery that night."
