Steve Hackett Releases New Studio Album BEYOND THE SHROUDED HORIZON

Progressive rock giant Steve Hackett returns with another stunning release Beyond the Shrouded Horizon. This highly anticipated album, due to be released on September 26th, through Inside Out/EMI Records, will be available in four formats: CD; Limited Special Edition 2 CD & media book which includes a bonus CD with 6 previously unreleased tracks; vinyl LP with gatefold sleeve and digital album. The album will be the focus of Hackett’s Breaking Waves Tour and is sure to amaze and astound old and new fans alike, blasting them into Rock’s stratosphere.

Hackett says: “My new album Beyond the Shrouded Horizon breaks free from its moorings in early autumn and sets sail through choppy riffs and sudden electric storms to the odd romantic isle…”

“From Sinbad seas to Startrek oceans of deep sky, it’s an odyssey. Invisible chords link pop to pomp, blues to baroque, embracing all genres discovered along the way. Let cthonic guitar forces and power of song take you to where waves crash through de-tuned orchestras over the edge of charted territories.”

This eagerly awaited new album follows hot on the heels of the tremendous success of his previous opus Out of The Tunnel’s Mouth which until now has been heralded as his strongest work.

Beyond the Shrouded Horizon is a deeply profound and mystical, yet heartfelt and spellbinding, progressive rock record which will seduce the listener and marks another step on the enthralling journey we are taking with Hackett as he makes sense of his life through music.

The album strikes a joyous note while remaining a fascinating and deeply personal affair. As Steve says “For all you restless souls out there, tighten your seatbelts and join me at full throttle on a ride from the shores of Loch Lomond to the Rings of Saturn.”

Beyond The Shrouded Horizon, Steve’s 24th solo release, charts an intriguing journey into the unknown on beautiful numbers like the epic A Place Called Freedom and the romantic melodies of Looking For Fantasy. Hackett pioneered the “tapping” technique which influenced the likes of Eddie Van Halen and countless other virtuoso guitarists as well as producing countless classic works as a member of Genesis and GTR but Beyond The Shrouded Horizon is set to be a work of historic significance which represents the pinnacle of achievement thus far in his stellar solo career.

The band features long time collaborators Roger King (Keyboards), Gary O’Toole (Drums), Rob Townsend (sax, whistle, bass clarinet), Nick Beggs (bass) and the seductive vocals of Amanda Lehmann (who also plays guitar). Roger King and Steve’s wife Jo have written several of the tracks with Steve. Special guests include YES bassist Chris Squire, drummer Simon Phillips and flutist John Hackett, Steve’s brother.

Danny says: “Ben and I visited a secondary school a little while ago to give a talk to a load of 15 year old music students. Having agreed to do it, we were a bit apprehensive, and thought it might be a bit dull for them, having 2 old gits spouting on about the music business and touring etc, but we were wrong, they loved it. That started us thinking, always dangerous, the next thing we were doing some shows. Lord help us all….”

Ben says: “I’ve always enjoyed doing interviews with Danny, I didn’t get the opportunity that often but when we did it was always a lot of fun, that’s when I could get a word in edgeways! We seem to have the knack of making each other laugh, so we thought it would be a great idea to see if we could do the same in front of an audience. If all else fails we’ll play them a song or two and do a runner…”

A very civilised and fun evening for all, the perfect antidote to the New Year Blues…

Rush DVD & Blu-ray: “Time Machine 2011: Live In Cleveland”

DVD & Blu-ray: “Time Machine 2011: Live In Cleveland”
Release Date: 7th November 2011

“A blend of power, subtlety, soaring choruses and some of the most intelligent lyrics ever written…Let’s hope we haven’t seen the last of them” – 5/5 The Sun

“Canadian legends confirm their status as the world’s biggest, and best, cult band….Rush have never sounded better than they do tonight” – 5/5 Kerrang review of Time Machine Tour “Perhaps the coolest band in the world” – The Guardian

Eagle Vision are pleased to announce the BluRay/DVD release of RUSH TIME MACHINE 2011: Live In Cleveland. The DVD is an evening with Rush performing their classic hits and features the legendary Moving Pictures album live in its entirety. Released in 1981, Moving Pictures was their most successful album to date, certified 4x Platinum and features some of Rush’s most well known songs and perennial radio favorites, including “Tom Sawyer,” “Limelight” and the Grammy®-nominated instrumental “YYZ.”

Captured in April at Cleveland’s Quicken Loans arena during the renowned trio’s extensive Time Machine world tour, TIME MACHINE 2011: Live In Cleveland marks the band’s first live concert filmed in the United States. The choice to record in Cleveland was a deliberate nod of gratitude to the first city to support Rush on its airwaves, as former WMMS DJ Donna Halper is widely credited for helping break the band in 1974 by spinning “Working Man.” The reinterpreted live version of “Working Man” was the encore closer on the Time Machine tour and is included on this DVD. Rush brought The Time Machine Tour to the UK, culminating in a sold out show at the O2 in May 2011.

In addition to the 26-song concert set, Rush’s notorious concept tour videos will be included: The first short film, entitled The ‘Real’ History of Rush ‘Don’t Be Rash’ , Episode No. 2, and the opening the second set video, The ‘Real’ History of Rush…and Rock ‘N Roll is My Name, Episode No. 17. The bonus material features outtakes from the short films, an alternate film version video for “Tom Sawyer”, and two rare pieces of Rush live footage from the vault: “Need Some Love” from Laura Second Secondary School with original drummer John Rutsey, and “Anthem” from Passaic New Jersey.

Anthem, Rush and Rounder Records have again selected D&E Entertainment (www.DandEentertainment.com), who theatrically distributed the documentary ‘Rush: Beyond The Lighted Stage’, to bring ‘Time Machine’ to the big screen and movie theatres across the US starting October 26. D&E will be working with Eagle Vision to bring ‘Time Machine’ to theatres across the UK and other territories as well.

Info on all screenings will be available at www.RushTimeMachinePremiere.com. The big screen HD digital cinema presentation will give fans the best seat in the house and transport them from the theatre to the front row of the concert.
In related news, Rush is also releasing the audio companion (a 2 CD set and Moving Pictures: Live 2011 on vinyl) via Roadrunner Records on the 7th November as well.

Rush has sold more than 40 million records worldwide and garnered untold legions of devoted and admiring fans. According to the RIAA, Rush’s sales statistics place them third after The Beatles and The Rolling Stones for the most consecutive Gold or Platinum studio albums by a rock band.

Ian Anderson Commemorates 40th Anniversary of Jethro Tull’s Groundbreaking Album ‘Thick As A Brick’ with UK tour in 2012

While busy with a string of highly anticipated UK acoustic shows, Ian Anderson announces he will hit the road again in April 2012 for a 19 date UK tour commemorating the 40th Anniversary of Jethro Tull’s 1972 Billboard No. 1 ‘Thick As A Brick’.

The band’s chart-topping record will be played in its entirety – as initially recorded – for the first time since its original tour in 1972. ‘Thick as a Brick’ was a concept album based on a poem written by a fictitious 10 year old boy Gerald Bostock – in reality Anderson himself, who wrote both music and lyrics. It only featured one seamless 45 minutes long track, although it was split to accommodate the album on vinyl and cassette. It reached number 5 in the UK charts.

Tickets for the 2012 tour go on sale from 7th September.

‘Thick As A Brick – Whatever happened to Gerald Bostock’ promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime musical experience, rediscovering a timeless milestone of progressive rock. The performances will also incorporate video projection and other theatrical elements. Ian Anderson performs some of his finest work with the added maturity and skill acquired across a 40 years strong career.

Anderson says: “I never thought I would do this music again in its entirety but, over the last couple of years, I have grown to rather like the idea and the prospect of a Prog moment of profound excess. Question is: will I now become filled with some dark and nefarious need to take this murky, anal business further? You never know….. ”

Widely recognised as the man who introduced the flute to rock music, Ian also plays ethnic flutes and whistles together with acoustic guitar and the mandolin family of instruments, providing the acoustic textures which have been an integral part of most of the Tull repertoire and his solo material. In recent years, he has toured more and more under his own name in solo concerts with orchestras, string quartets, featured soloists and in his other eclectic acoustic shows.

During the ‘Thick As a Brick’ tour Anderson will be joined by John O’Hara on keyboards, David Goodier on bass, Florian Opahle on guitar and Scott Hammond on drums as well as guest performers.
