The Raskins, as it has been announced have been invited to open up for the upcoming US Mötley Crüe Final Tour, which is already sold out in many markets and also features very special guest Alice Cooper.

One half of the twin brother duo, Logan (Roger being the other half) unveils that it is the music and the bond of brotherhood that will prevail for the Raskins. "We work and strive extremely hard for success with our music. We write and perform because its our passion. It's what we love to do."

And the reviews that have been coming the Raskins' way have been stellar, such as this quote from the Dedicated Rocker Society Blog - "The Raskins do what a rock and roll band is supposed to do, entertain you. They will get the girls dancing, the guys rocking, and everyone reaching for another drink and having a good time. The Raskins hit the nail on the head with this true rock and roller of a debut." Additionally, Guitar International calls the band's debut "Rebel Rock at its Best!" and the Examiner stated "The record showcases a mix of pop-rock sensibility, big hooks and addictive melodies, along with old fashion rock and roll storytelling."

While Motley Crüe's Final Tour will see one of rock's most iconic groups gracefully bow out from the touring circuit, now introduces one of the most promising rocks acts to a whole new audience from coast to coast. Get ready to rock with The Raskins!

Audio Fidelity Hosts Disney's TRON OST Listening Party

Audio Fidelity staff and label execs recently hosted a gathering of friends to preview the brilliant remastered recording of Disney's TRON motion picture soundtrack.  The soundtrack will be available from Audio Fidelity at the end of July. The event took place at Cohearent Audio, the Los Angeles studio where engineer Kevin Gray remastered the record.  The event was hosted by Marshall Blonstein, the president of Audio Fidelity. The guests included Michael Fremer of Analog Planet.com who, at the time, served as the film's original soundtrack supervisor.

L to R: Marshall Blonstein, Michael Fremer, Kevin Gray

The 1982 film score was composed, performed and produced by the pioneer electronic musician Wendy Carlos. The release will be packaged in a distinctive gatefold jacket and contain two 180g translucent blue vinyl records as well as colorful photos from the popular cult film along with generous and informative liner notes written by Ms. Carlos and additional jottings by Mr. Fremer.

Disney's video game crossover movie TRON was a notable landmark in the synthesis of electronic and traditional orchestral music. Wendy Carlos created a brilliant orchestral recording with symphonic backgrounds by the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the UCLA Chorus which was later enhanced and upgraded with an electronic score. The result is an impressive soundscape that successfully and seamlessly fuses organic and electronic music.

The multi-Grammy award winning Wendy Carlos best-known for her popular “Switched on Bach,” series of albums also composed and performed on the soundtracks of two Stanley Kubrick cinema masterpieces, “A Clockwork Orange” and “The Shining.”

The TRON soundtrack has two additional tracks ("Only Solutions” and the rock guitar-driven instrumental, "1990's Theme") provided by Journey, one of America's best selling and most beloved bands.

Gatefold package includes colorful photos and extensive liner notes!

CRR (Dot EU) – New Music from Classic Rock Bands
Spotlight: Yes – Heaven And Earth (2014 Frontiers Records)

I must admit right off the bat, that I really did not expect Yes to still be an active recording and touring band, in the present year; 2014. I remember telling my wife, who was my then girlfriend after seeing Yes perform supporting their studio album Talk (1994), that I suspected that was the end for Yes. Wasn't because they were not good anymore. By this time, members have gone and some have even returned to later on leave again. All in all, a fantastic run for those involved should those in their Yes business shirts have decided it was time to turn the Yes machine off. Lucky for all of us that that didn't happen. Today I find it totally amazing, and am forever grateful that Yes is still here. A progressive rock band from the late 1960's that I labeled 'my favorite rock band' back when I was in Catholic grade school, is still relevant. And to this day, continuing to evolve, and explore the seemingly infinite musical horizons that is what I and millions of others I'm sure, understand to be YES.

For the record, I got on the Yes band wagon around the time their first official live release, 'Yes Songs', and the groups sixth studio album, 'Tales From Topographic Oceans' was still regarded as new at the local Jersey Shore record shops I hung out in.
Yes' fourth album, 'Fragile', which contained their hit song 'Roundabout', is what probably caught my attention at first. Yes – Fragile...is nowadays considered to be one of the main pillars that hold up the prog-rock hall of fame. Add, The Yes Album (1971), Close To The Edge (1972), and the bands first official live release 'Yes Songs', a 3 record set album wrapped in the coolest Roger Dean artwork you ever want to see. Live versions of 'Yours Is No Disgrace', and 'Starship Troopers' make for a PERFECT album side, that was heard at every cool party I attended. Especially if I had anything to do with picking out some of the music.

Now decades later, Yes is still a leading force within the modern day progressive rock world. For in the year 2014, a new batch of songs with the official Yes stamp has hit the general public. With that the album introduces a new main vocalist, 43 year old; Jon Davison. The new Yes release entitled, 'Heaven & Earth', has just hit the streets. Is guaranteed to not disappoint anyone who appreciates a serious musical groups ever changing definition of itself. As one who reviews music in the pop culture world, I suggest clearing the mind of any and all Yes History, and just listen to what these find bunch of professional musicians (the band_behind the scenes folks) whipped up for us. My opinion might persuade, entertain and inform, but it's your actions that count the most. For the record, I will base my review on what I hear, and what not the bands past achievements are. You buying the new studio album (whatever format you the consumer prefers), and supporting the band by perhaps taking in a live performance, is a part of supporting what the men that make up Yes are doing today. It's been fun doing my part throughout the decades seeing Yes in concert many times. Collecting their music. Always worth whatever money and time spent on them. My experience anyway. So lets see what we have here.

Admitting a loyalty to Yes is not evidence of being labeled a Yes fanatic incapable of giving a bad review. I am highly capable of saying a song sucks through a used tea bag, if that was the case. Luckily for yours truly, that is not the position I'm in with Yes' new CD / album 'Heaven & Earth'. Brilliantly produced by legendary Roy Thomas Baker. Mixed by ex-Yes alumni Billy Sherwood. Seven songs off 'Heaven & Earth' giving writing credit in part or full to newest member, Jon Davison. His voice like that of the previous Yes main vocalist Benoît David. Not so much Trevor Horn sounding, and YES...in the same alto tenor style as with original member / main vocalist Jon Anderson. Compliments the other current band members backing vocals, should you ask me. Throughout all their history, Yes has always had GREAT vocals / harmonizing. Still does !!

What I'll predict as a new Yes greatest hit, 'Believe Again', kicks off the newest Yes offering. It's melody is contagious. What people call ear-worm material. Something that sticks in your brain and won't let go. And note...every instrument heard loud and clear. No small drums sound present. By the time 'Believe Again' is over, one realizes that even with it being a Steve Howe / Jon Davison written song, that it's a group effort presenting it. Geoff Downes is incredible on it as he is throughout the album. Also, the solid rhythm section of Alan White, and original Yes band member / co-founder Chris Squire. Personally loving the instrumental moments, one of the things that makes this song so good to me is the Yes ear candy found between the three and six minute mark. Just turn up the volume and you'll find out what I mean. Downes is so in the prog groove !! In comparison, I believe the song ranks up there with the Yes classic, 'And You And I'. Give 'Believe Again' more then one listen, and I'm sure you'll agree with me.

Two songs with writing credits that contain the only band member to have appeared on every Yes studio album, and official release, Mr Chris Squire. The CDs second track, is a upbeat tune where Chris gets co writing credits called, 'The Game'. Reminds me some of the Trevor Rabin era in previous Yes music. Seeing how Mr. Squire had a big involvement with that era, it's cool hearing again, even if only for a moment. “The Game” could remind one of a pop song. I like the musical introduction. Sounds like a completely different number once it kicks in. 'The Game' is very catchy, likable, and consistent with a positive over all feeling to it.

The first song I gave a repeated play to on my first listen of 'Heaven And Earth' was the third track entitled, 'Step Beyond'. Another Howe / Davison penned number, it's a platform that brings out the best of rest of the band. Another new greatest hit...in my opinion. And besides the musicianship, the vocals and harmonies have been to this point, and will remain throughout the CD, to be simply wonderful. Turn this song up !!

To the fourth track, a number called, 'To Ascend', to the seventh track, a song called, 'It Was All We Knew', one finds with each song played, a new appreciation each time they are heard.
On 'Heaven & Earth' ends up what I believe to be a new Yes masterpiece, penned by Jon Davison and Geoff Downes, called 'Subway Walls'. Last track on the CD. A cool rocker, and an over all very groovy song. Steve Howe stands out, as do the vocals, and the instrumental moments (the music heard in-between the vocals_words). Every component complimenting the other. A tad Asia sounding which is not surprising since half of that original band is included in this roaster. It's a good thing, as is the song. A solid modern day prog rocker that classic rock bands still out there performing, should after hearing, aspire to rise themselves to new levels. Not as a personal achievement or in a stand out way, but as part of a team. That is what I think makes this new Yes that good. Roy Thomas Baker knew who he was working with, and with as well as giving direction, let each member do what they do best. The results is a new five man line-up acting as Yes, recording as Yes, and sounding like Yes. Must be Yes. Notes From The Edge...be damned.

Rating: Using the one to five star rating system, I rate Yes – Heaven & Earth – FIVE STARS !! Solid in every way. Now I can compare it to past Yes achievements and, and frankly I'm not disappointed.  Music was rated on it's own merit. Three out of five guys in the band today, also played on 1974's Yes – Relayer album. One of my Yes favorite studio offerings. This is isn't Relayer...The Sequel. Before listening, remember to clear the mind, and enjoy the newest product of what is still...Yes.

Lou Gramm Confirms Reunion
With Ex-Foreigner Bandmate Mick Jones

Lou Gramm has confirmed a long-hoped-for reunion with former bandmate Mick Jones, though the songs are tabbed for solo projects rather than a future studio effort by Foreigner.

“Sometime in September, Mick and I are gonna get together and write some music,” he tells Rochester, N.Y.’s 95.1 the Brew. “I’m excited about it and very much looking forward to it. I’m actually helping him with a couple of songs on a solo album that he’s gonna be releasing, and he’s gonna help me with a couple of songs on an album that I’ll be releasing next year.”

Gramm left Foreigner in 2003, with his last album with the band dating back to in 1994. Kelly Hansen has fronted the group since 2005, but Gramm and Jones, who co-founded Foreigner in 1976, reunited last summer for performances of the hits ‘Juke Box Hero’ and ‘I Want to Know What Love Is’ during induction ceremonies for the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Reunion talk has been heating up ever since.

More recently, Jones said the two were considering a return to some leftover material from the ’80s that had been left unfinished. Gramm says they ended up focusing on demos that were of a newer vintage.

“It’s actually the songs we were writing, working on together when we split up in 2003,” Gramm says. “So those were songs that were done at the end of the ’90s and early ’00s, and they’re really good.”

Jones, the only remaining original member of the group, is currently leading Foreigner on tour with Styx and Don Felder. The ‘Soundtrack of Summer‘ shows continue through July 27.

NINE BELOW ZERO
 A&M Years

To mark the re-release of their two critically acclaimed A&M studio albums from the 1980's, Nine Below Zero are reforming their classic ‘Young Ones’ line-up for a special one-off UK tour this Autumn.

The two classic albums, ’Don’t Point Your Finger’ and ‘Third Degree’ were re-packaged, re-mastered and released through Universal Music earlier this year.

The band’s original drummer Mickey ‘Stix’ Burkey will re-join the band for the tour. He recently played live with the band for the first time since the 80s, in November 2012 at the 30th Anniversary of The Assembly Room in Islington. Mickey and frontman Dennis Greaves co-wrote many of the songs on ‘Don’t Point Your Finger’ and ‘Third Degree’.

Don’t Point Your Finger, originally released in 1981, was Nine Below Zero’s second album. Recorded in 12 days at Olympic Sound Studios in Barnes and produced by the legendary Glyn Johns. Dennis says, “We were walking in the footsteps of some of the all-time greats. Led Zeppelin’s first album was recorded there, along with “Who’s Next” and “Beggars Banquet” by The Stones. It was the most inspiring experience”. The double CD also includes a live performance recorded for the BBC Radio One’s In Concert series in 1981 at The Granary Club in Bristol.

Third Degree, originally released in 1982, included the single 11+11, which was performed on the first episode of cult TV show, The Young Ones. This album spent six weeks in the album chart. David Bailey, renowned photographer of The Beatles, The Stones and the Kray Twins (to name a few), took the photograph for the album front cover artwork.

Nine Below Zero originally recorded the album, again with Glyn Johns, at his studio in Sussex. However, with it’s raw sound, A&M wanted to hear the album with a more clinical production and the band went on to re-record it with producer Simon Boswell. Now available for the first time, Johns’ original recording will be available on the re-release along with the more familiar version of the album.

Dennis says “I think it will be interesting for fans to see how a series of songs can sound so different and how the production process affects the finished article”.

When the last notes rang out in the Dublin o2 on Saturday 12 April 2014, the 9000 fans packing the venue knew that they were witness to the end of something special.  The reunion that nobody thought would ever be possible did happen, but now the itch was scratched and that particular book was closed.  On 1 September 2014, the band will commemorate one very special night with the release of ‘The Frantic Four’s Final Fling’ on 2CD, double vinyl, DVD and Blu-ray formats, through Abbey Road / Universal. As well as the full concert, the visual formats will contain a bonus fourteen track CD made of highlights recorded across the final tour of March / April.  The Blu-ray format also has, as a bonus feature, the documentary made by Sky News’ Ian Woods entitled ‘The Final Fling?’

When the original line-up of Status Quo reunited for a 9-date UK tour in March 2013 the outpouring of approval and raw emotion from the fans was incredible. public demand made the final tour of 2014 mandatory and it was just as emotional – and by now the band were an even tighter unit.  Rossi, Parfitt, Lancaster and Coghlan received a rapturous response; the band clicked straight back into their groove, the chemistry obvious, the music stunning and the volume almost overpowering.  It all led to Dublin; the final show of the final tour. Ever.

TRACKLISTING:
Junior’s Wailing, Backwater / Just Take Me, Is There A Better Way, In My Chair, Blue Eyed Lady, Little Lady / Most Of The Time, Rain, (April) Spring Summer & Wednesdays, Railroad, Oh Baby, Forty Five Hundred Times / Gotta Go Home / Big Fat Mama / Down Down / Roadhouse Blues / Caroline / Bye Bye Johnny

The Frantic Four tours were highlights in a career that has seen Quo achieve more than anyone dreamed possible.  The Times said, “It sounded fantastic.  And they, like us, were clearly getting a tremendous kick out of revisiting these long-neglected songs.”  Classic Rock said, quite simply, “Fuck me, dreams can come true”! Dublin was a genuine milestone on the incredible road that Quo have travelled, and it’s captured in all its glory here. ‘Frantic Four The Final Fling’ – effin’ fantastic. Collectors should also note the release of the forthcoming “Status Quo Live” Box Set, issued by UMC, on 8 September 2014.

Guitar Hero Tommy Bolin's First Band Zephyr
To See 1969 Debut Album Reissued On Both CD& Vinyl

Tommy Bolin fans, you are in for a treat! The 1969 recorded debut of the guitar great performing with his first major act, Zephyr, the blues and jazz influenced rock and roll steamroller fronted by powerhouse female vocalist, Candy Givens, will be reissued courtesy of Purple Pyramid Records starting August 5. With newly remixed and remastered audio created under the supervision of founding member David Givens, this gem of an album has truly been restored to the band’s original vision. As Givens says, “For the first time you can hear what we heard before everything went wrong. I’m happy with the results!”

Happier still will be Bolin fans everywhere as a treasure trove of unreleased live material and studio improvisations were also uncovered in the process of remixing the album. These include performances of the band at small clubs in their home state of Colorado as well as Reed’s Ranch where the band opened for The Grateful Dead. In addition, the studio rehearsals showcase Bolin’s adventurous playing on two free form jams as he lays down blistering solos and eerie atmospheres courtesy of his Echoplex effect.

A limited edition 2,000 unit pressing of the reissue in a 3CD deluxe box set was released in May and has already been sold out, but a single disc version is set to arrive August 5 and a special 180 gram colored vinyl pressing will follow later this year.

Get a glimpse into the early salad days of this inimitable virtuoso whose rise to fame occurred nearly as fast as his untimely exit. His music lives on!

HELLION
'Karma's A Bitch'
The new mini album

7th October 2014

HELLION ANNOUNCES DETAILS OF NEW “KARMA’S A BITCH” MINI ALBUM
Iconic female-fronted metal act HELLION announce details of their first new album in over a decade.  Entitled Karma’s A Bitch, the new mini-LP is set for release via HNE/Cherry Red Records on October 8 in Europe and the UK, just before the band set out on a massive tour of the US.  The cover artwork was designed by British artist Wolven Claws of The Crystallomantic Art.

With a stellar line-up featuring vocalist Ann Boleyn, drummer Simon Wright (formerly of AC/DC, DIO, and UFO), keyboardist Scott Warren (formerly with DIO and HEAVEN & HELL), bassist Bjorn Englen (formerly with Yngwie Malmsteen), and up-an-coming shred guitarist Maxxxwell Carlisle, this is easily Hellion's strongest line-up ever.

HELLION’s new tracks were produced by Simon Wright and Ann Boleyn alongside legendary British studio icon Ken Scott, who has produced iconic albums, including DAVID BOWIE's "Hunky Dory", "The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars", "Aladdin Sane" and "Pinups".

A top producer at Abbey Road Studios, Scott is also acknowledged as one of the five principal engineers for THE BEATLES.  He has engineered countless classic works, including GEORGE HARRISON's "All Things Must Pass", ELTON JOHN's "Madman Across The Water", "Honky Chateau" and "Don't Shoot Me I'm Only The Piano Player."  Other credits include gold and platinum albums by SUPERTRAMP, DAVID BOWIE, MISSING PERSONS, KANZAS, and more.

Scott recently said of the comparison between working with David Bowie and Ann Boleyn: "Working with Bowie or working with Ann of HELLION, you've got sheer talent.” Acknowledging Boleyn as the driving force propelling the band, Scott notes: "Over the years, the musicians have changed. The one musician that has always been the same is Ann. So once again, it's new musicians. The one constant thing about HELLION is Ann, and her incredible voice."

“Starting off with a mysterious and ethereal ghostly introduction, Betrayer quickly blasts into overdrive with a scream from Hell and the raw power the likes of which can only come from Ann Boleyn,” commented Rob DiMartini of Metal Scream Radio.  “The title track, Karma's A Bitch, is a tough sounding rocker destined to be one of the strongest songs on metal radio this year.”

Di Martini continued, ”Hell Has No Fury delivers full-tilt metal with a sublime orchestral section by Scott Warren and the blistering guitar work of Maxwell Carlisle. Watch The City Burn takes listeners on an in-depth journey into the anger and chaos of a full-blown riot. The final piece, Til The End, begins with the hammering double-bass power grove of Simon Wright at his finest. With an anthem-like melody, this is a song that fans will be singing along with when Hellion hits the road.”

HELLION is set to kick off their North American tour in October (dates here), and are looking forward to hitting the UK & Europe afterwards!

Danny Bryant Releases Temperature Rising In September
plus Tour Dates To Coincide With Release

If Danny’s previous album ‘Hurricane’ was notable for pairing Danny Bryant’s best ever songs with Richard Hammerton’s expansive production, then ‘Temperature Rising’ is the closest he’s come to nailing a defining blues rock recording.
