“Status Quo Live” Box Set
Released September 8th

Status Quo release the “Status Quo Live” Box Set, issued by UMC, on 8 September 2014.  This carefully curated special release comes as a 4CD Deluxe Edition Box and on digital formats [Cat Nos 3739854 and 3793134 respectively], each boasting 35 live tracks - many never before released - recorded as far afield as Glasgow, Tokyo and SydneyThe “Status Quo Live” Box Set / digital booklet features extensive liner notes by rock writer Dave Ling and a host of rare artist photos provided by former tour manager and ‘fifth member’ of the band Bob Young.

The first two discs feature material from the band’s seminal ‘Live!’ album issued in 1977.  Routinely described as one of the greatest ever live concert releases, it is here in all its glory. Captured at Glasgow’s Apollo Theatre using the Rolling Stones’ mobile studio between 27 and 29 October 1976, it is a stunning set recorded by a band at the height of its powers.  Disc 3 offers the rare ‘Tokyo Quo’ album, which, as the name suggests, was released only in Japan; barring a very limited vinyl release for Record Store Day 2014 this has never been released in the UK.  This album was recorded on 17th November at the Sunplaza Hall.  The final disc in the box is the previously unreleased ‘Australia ‘74’, thirteen tracks recorded on 20th November that year at the Hordern Pavilion, Sydney.

This release is fully supported and endorsed by the band members, past and present - “Status Quo Live” Box Set is a triumphant revisiting of the glory days of one of the world’s most important rock act.  The ‘Frantic Four’ themselves have just completed a valedictory tour of Europe in March and April 2014, including 10 UK / Eire dates. Collectors should also note the release of ‘The Frantic Four’s Final Fling’ on 2CD, double vinyl, DVD and Blu-ray formats, through Abbey Road / Universal, on 1 September 2014.
