Knebworth 1974 Featuring The Allman Brothers band. Commemorative Set Available Now

It is perhaps strange to think that the Knebworth Festival of 1974 was originally going to be something completely different. Originally the plan had been for Led Zeppelin to headline the event with a strong supporting cast.
Sadly that was not to be as negotiations were made public that Zeppelin was in the running to headline. Once the word was out so were Zeppelin which left the promoter two options
A)    drop the whole idea
B)    Go with the strong supporting show
In the end promoter Freddy Bannister went with the second option and Knebworth was born. Opening up for business on Saturday July 20th 1974 with the Allman Brothers Band topping the bill over Van Morrison, The Doobie Brothers, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Sensational Alex Harvey Band and Tim Buckley
The 1974 Knebworth set commemorates the very first Knebworth festival with The Allman Brothers, Doobie Bros, Van Morrison, Tim Buckley, The Mahavishnu Orchestra and The Alex Harvey Band. 42nd and 43rd Anniversaries Of The Bath Festivals!

Next week sees the forty second anniversay of the Bath 1970 Festival and also the forty third anniversary of the 1969 Bath Festival. The 1970 Festival was particularly interesting featuring as it did Led Zeppelin

And also Pink Floyd performinjg Atom Heart Mother

The Bath Festivals promoted by Freddy bannister in 1969 and 1970 were two of the most important musical festivals of the late sixties and early seventies
The first Bath Bluest Festival in 1969 featured amongst many others Fleetwood mac, The Nice, Blodwyn Pig, Colosseum, John Mayall, Ten Years After and the mighty Led Zeppelin. The festival took place on the reasonably sized Bath recreation Ground in the centre of Bath. Needless to say it was a huge success.
The Bath Blues and Progressive Festival of 1970 however was to be a whole different affair and much larger so the festival was moved to the Show Grounds  and attracted 150,000 people over two days rather than just one. Featuring the likes of Led Zeppelin (Altogether a bigger act some twelve months on) Jefferson Airplane, The Byrds, Fairport Convention, Frank Zappa, Pink Floyd, Canned Heat,, John Mayall and the Moody Blues to name just a few this was one of the biggest UK festivals ever held.
The reason I am telling you all this is because you can now buy a limited edition commemorative set featuring material from both festivals. What you get in the Boxed set is:
The 1969 and 1970 programmes, tickets and flyers, the 330 book dealing with all the backstage hassles, 15 photographs, the two 20ins x 30ins posters, a T-shirt from the 1970 Bath festival, plus 4 CDs.
All contained in a deluxe presentation box

The Boxed Sets can also be purchased in Monthly instalments to make the purchase a little easier and if you are quick and order before the 29th of June you will get the boxed set at a discounted price. Incubus Release Special CD/DVD Package In August. Plus Announce London Date

INCUBUS HQ LIVE
THREE MULTI-DISC PACKAGES FROM LEGACY UK RECORDINGS (Part of Sony CMG) CELEBRATE
INCUBUS’ 20 YEARS TOGETHER
Release date August 13th 2012
Incubus and Linkin Park to co-headline 4-week, 18-city Honda Civic Tour of U.S. and Canada, opening in Boston on INCUBUS HQ LIVE release date, August 13th
European Dates including London Brixton Academy 9th July 2012

In summer of 2011, celebrating their 20th year together, alt-rock giants Incubus turned a Los Angeles storefront space into a low-key, hi-tech residency that resulted in six nights of free performances and fan encounters now chronicled on INCUBUS HQ LIVE.  The celebration takes place across three separate multi-disc packages released by Legacy Recordings, a division of SONY MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT.

The August 13th release date for the first two configurations, INCUBUS HQ LIVE and INCUBUS HQ LIVE SPECIAL EDITION, coincides with the opening of the 2012 Honda Civic Tour Featuring Linkin Park and Incubus.  The 4-week, 18-city tour of the U.S. and Canada starts at Comcast Center in Boston and concludes at Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre in San Diego on September 10th.

Dedicated to fans and friends, Incubus HQ Live, as the gallery-sized storefront space on busy La Brea Avenue in West Hollywood was aptly named last year, was the answer to a question the band had been thinking about for a while.  “After twenty years,” writes lead singer Brandon Boyd in his liner notes essay (the same for all three configurations), “7 albums, multiple live albums, EPs, DVDs, somewhere in the ballpark of 1,500 live shows, what could we do to introduce our newest album, If Not Now, When? in a manner that was both unique and memorable?”

Their first studio album in nearly five years at the time called for thinking outside the box.  Playful options ranged from going door-to-door with the album to 3:00 a.m. infomercials.  Or could they “invite fans into our living room and play the f***ing album live for them?…Wait,” Brandon mused.  “That is actually not a terrible idea, minus the f***ing part.”

Utilizing social media enabled fans to contact Incubus, who then replied with an assigned date and time to show up for the HQ gigs.  After building out the space to accommodate fans and crew, seven nights of performances were set. The resulting CDs and DVD catch the action on six nights that were broadcast live on the Internet.  It was all a prelude to the July 12th release of If Not Now, When?

Along with the hit songs, deep album tracks and fan favorites performed in an intimate setting, INCUBUS HQ LIVE showcases the personalities of band members Brandon Boyd, Mike Einziger (lead guitar, piano, backing vocals), Chris Kilmore (keyboards, turntables), Ben Kenney (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Jose Pasillas II (drums).  The fan interaction, instrument lessons with the band, and overall feel of the space give the DVD warmth and character.

The formats of the HQ Live are:
·         INCUBUS HQ LIVE (16-track CD + DVD, available August 13th);
·         INCUBUS HQ LIVE SPECIAL EDITION (28-track double-CD + DVD, available August 13th);

The tour will see Caravan celebrate the 40th Anniversary of what many critics regard to be one of the most influential British prog albums of all time; 1973’s “For Girls Who Grow Plump In The Night”.  Tickets go on sale Monday 18th June from the 24 Hour Box Office: 0844 478 0898, www.eventim.co.uk.

The current line-up features Pye Hastings (1968 founding member: guitar, lead vocals), Geoffrey Richardson (joined 1972: viola, guitar, flute, vocals), Jan Schelhaas (keyboards), Jim Leverton (bass, vocals) and Mark Walker (drums, percussion).

Chris Squire and Steve Hackett; Squackett debut Album released August 1st

Esoteric Antenna are pleased to announce the release of the hugely anticipated album by SQUACKETT, the collaborative project between two legends of Progressive Rock, Chris Squire and Steve Hackett. The album is released on 1st of August.

The two met when Chris Squire was working on a solo album and needed some guitar parts. Chris was put in touch with Steve and through these sessions the idea for SQUACKETT was born. Over four years in the making, the “Squackett” album is very much more than the sum of its parts. “It was very much about a bunch of pals swapping notes and anecdotes,” says Hackett “I would say if people are looking for uncountable time signatures, in the main that’s not what this album holds. I think the songs are more simple and direct.” “It has a flavour to it that is reminiscent of a few things from different artists,” says Squire. “There is some clever prog rock stuff in there, some jazzy bits but there are parts that have vocal harmonies like Crosby, Stills and Nash”

Album track listing is as follows
1. A Life Within a Day
2. Tall Ships
3. Divided Self
4. Aliens
5. Sea of Smiles
6. The Summer Backwards
7. Storm Chaser
8. Can't Stop the Rain
9. Perfect Love Song

The album will be released in the following formats - Standard CD - EANTCD 1002, Limited and Numbered Vinyl Edition - EANTLP 1002, Limited Edition 2 Disc Deluxe Edition (with hardback cover & 5.1 surround bonus disc) - EANTCD 2002.
