Release date: 13th October 2014

Reeves Gabrels & His Imaginary Fr13nds are set to tour the UK this autumn and preview songs from a forthcoming new studio album

Reeves Gabrels, long-time artistic partner of David Bowie and The Cure’s current lead guitarist, brings his power trio, Reeves Gabrels & His Imaginary Fr13nds, from Nashville to England to play in small venues starting on September 30. Lovers of superb songs, stellar musicianship and fearless improvisation will all want to see and hear Reeves & friends in action.

The band’s live sets will preview songs from their forthcoming album, also titled Reeves Gabrels & His Imaginary Fr13nds, which is to be released digitally just as they head home, on October 13. Highlights include the biting “Drown You Out” and the spooky “House of Usher” (titled after an Edgar Allan Poe story from an 1840 collection Tales of the Grotesque and Arabesque). Uncommon interpretations of Bo Diddley’s early rocker “Who Do You Love” and Jimmy Reed’s blues “Bright Lights, Big City” also feature. Album details and pre-order links will be available on the date of the first performance, September 30.

Fans of earlier Reeves Gabrels albums will also be well pleased at the performances, as the trio will play songs from Sacred Squall of Now (1995), Ulysses (1999) and Rockonica (2005). David Coverdale comments on the package below.

It’s still hard for me to find the words when remembering that half the incredible band who recorded the ‘SLIDE IT IN’ album with me have passed away.

Incredibly difficult to articulate... Cozy Powell...Mel Galley...Jon Lord...Amazing people...amazing musicians...Their memories live on in our hearts & in the music they made. I miss them beyond words…

Wait until you see & hear them playing as only they can & add in the fiery guitar assault of the incredibly gifted John Sykes...plus the relentless melodic bass pounding of Neil Murray…

Watching the videos & listening to the live performances takes me right back to the time I was on stage with this super group...

For this is a time capsule to indulge in, even if you missed the action the first time around & if you did catch any of the shows back in the day, you can relive it now in all it’s sonic glory.

A truly great chapter of the band... One of my all time favorite chapters of Whitesnake.

My Co-Producer Michael McIntyre & I searched the world for decent video footage & audio from any of the 1984 shows & came up with ‘Super-Rock’, recorded at the first Japanese rock festival at Seibu Stadium in Tokyo & a precious, invaluable video of Maestro Jon Lord’s final appearance with Whitesnake.

All of the features on this package have been treated lovingly & respectfully, with no expense spared, utilizing technology to improve sound & picture quality.

In other words, it should look & sound f’ing great!!

Some of the Special Features include never before seen or heard tracks, demos, photos...

These are memories I treasure & delight in sharing with you as we continue our Celebration of the 30th Anniversary of WHITESNAKE  ‘SLIDE IT IN’...

Kinks Legend and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Dave Davies To Release New Album 'Rippin Up Time'!

The man who forever changed the sound of rock 'n' roll when he invented distortion, Kinks legend Dave Davies, has recorded a brand new solo album of all original material called 'Rippin’ Up Time' on New York based Red River Entertainment. Produced by Dave Davies & David Nolte, the new CD features 10 original new songs written in the classic Kinks style that fans of all ages will want to hear. Listen to 'Rippin Up Time' here.

Dave Davies founded the Kinks in the early 1960's and forever changed music after he sliced up the speaker cone of a little green amp and created a revolutionary, distorted guitar tone and frenetic solo on the song “You Really Got Me”. Musicologist Joe Harrington described the Kinks influence: “ 'You Really Got Me', 'All Day And All Of The Night' ... were predecessors of the whole three-chord genre ... The Kinks did a lot to help turn rock n roll into rock.” In 1998, writer Bill Crowley wrote, “As lead guitarist and founder of The Kinks, Dave Davies is one of the most unpredictable and original forces in rock, without whom guitar-rock styles including heavy metal and punk would have been inconceivable. A member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Dave's massive guitar sounds have inspired bands from Van Halen to Green Day.”

Dave explains that 'Rippin Up Time' is about “a man's reflections of the past, his fears, anxieties and optimism about the present and hopeful expectations about the future. I had a lot of ideas in my head thinking about the past and how we started and the Kinks and my own life and the present and what's happening with my life now and concerns and worries, anxieties about the future. I suddenly had an image of all the times overlapping as if they're all in one place in my mind. I thought I'd just write it from the point of view of a dream. It's a mixture of emotions that I was going through as I was writing the songs, some would be happy or reflective or sad.

Hard hitting tracks “Johnny Adams”, “Nosey Neighbours” and title track “Rippin Up Time” show Dave's classic riffs, distinctive singing and playing style while songs like “Semblance of Sanity” and “Mindwash” take the listener to otherworldly, inner landscapes. Dave's son musician/producer Russ Davies' appearance is a surprise treat with his smokey vocals on “In the Old Days” and “Through my Window”. Says Dave, “It was wonderful working with my son Russ Davies and old friend David Nolte on this project and am really excited about the album.” Dave's accent and cockney brogue gives a delightful English flavour to many tracks. He shows his sensitive side in the pensive, futuristic ballad “Between the Towers” while “King of Karaoke” takes a humorous look at many people's favorite pastime. David Nolte's musical contributions and thoughtful co-production throughout 'Rippin Up Time' reveals an inspiring creative collaboration. Former E1 and PolyGram executive Bob Frank's Red River label which is distributed via Sony RED in the US is proud to be releasing 'Rippin Up Time' due out on October 28, 2014.

In a recent interview with Andy Greene of Rolling Stone, Dave imparted, “I like to work quick. You want to attack an idea when it's living and breathing. I didn't want to reach the stage where I heard the songs so many times I began to second guess myself, which has happened in the past." (read the entire Rolling Stone interview here)

Since the early days, Dave Davies has worked on a slew of critically acclaimed records, ranging from solo hit single “Death of a Clown”, to experimental Kinks records like 'Village Green Preservation Society' and 'Arthur' as well as the classic 'Lola' in the 70's. In the 80's Dave released experimentally prescient solo work like the eponymous album titled 'Dave Davies' or 'AFL1-3603' named after himself and/or the barcode symbol face cover art. His mainstream success continued in the 80's on hit Kinks albums 'Low Budget' and 'State of Confusion'. In the 90's he released more solo work such as 'Bug' and the compilation 'Unfinished Business'. His songs have been featured in films by John Carpenter and on TV shows like 'The Sopranos', which used his tune “Living On A Thin Line”. His tell-all autobiographical book 'Kink' was well received in the late 90's as well. In recent years, Dave has collaborated creatively with his sons. In 2010 he worked with son Russell Davies
in the Aschere Project to create the hauntingly, beautiful rock electronica album 'Two Worlds'. The film 'Mystical Journey', directed by son Martin Davies, narrates Dave's longtime interest in the paranormal, Eastern philosophies and spirituality (the film inspired Julien Temple s BBC documentary 'Kinkdom Kome'). In 2013 Dave released 'I Will Be Me' on Cleopatra Records. No matter how diverse the ambition, Dave Davies puts his heart and soul in all of his projects.

Ever the visionary legend always ahead of his time, from slashing up a speaker cone all those years ago to his new release 'Rippin In Time', Dave Davies, rocks the past, present and, no doubt, the future!

1. Ripping Up Time
2. Semblance of Sanity
3. King of Karaoke

New ‘Queen Forever’ CD Collection Brings New Freddie Mercury Tracks to Light

Queen Bring Back Freddie New Queen Forever CD Collection Brings New Freddie Mercury Tracks to Light RELEASES on NOVEMBER 10 2014 Three previously unreleased Queen tracks featuring late singer Freddie Mercury spearhead an exciting new Queen album, Queen Forever, due November 10th 2014 on the Virgin Records label.

The tracks include a long anticipated track from Queen and Michael Jackson, There Must Be More to Life Than This, a previously unfinished Mercury-Queen track Let Me In Your Heart Again and a  stripped-down ballad version of Mercury’s first solo hit, his Giorgio Moroder collaboration, Love Kills.

Perhaps the biggest revelation on Queen Forever is Brian May’s composition, Let Me In Your Heart Again. The song was first recorded by Queen for The Works album, but not completed at the time and has remained overlooked since then.

An authentic, live-in-the-studio track from the same golden age as Radio Ga Ga and I Want To Break Free, this never-before-heard Queen track shows off Freddie’s timeless vocals and features newly recorded guitar parts and new backing vocals from Brian and Roger. This thrilling track finally reaches us nearly 30 years after Freddie first laid down his original vocal.

The concept for this album was shaped after Brian May and  Roger Taylor discovered a stash of unreleased material in the Queen source archive.

Although Brian May had hoped to release the songs last year, they “found a few more tracks with Freddie singing and all of us playing. They are quite beautiful … big ballads and the big, big epic sound”

Captain Beefheart 'Le Nouvel Hippodrome, Paris 1977' Rare Concert Recording Now Available!

Much to the excitement of Captain Beefheart fans worldwide, Gonzo Multimedia just released on DBL CD a rare live recording of the Captain in concert at the Le Nouvel Hippodrome in Paris on November 19, 1977! Don Van Vliet (born Don Glen Vliet; January 15, 1941 – December 17, 2010) was an American musician, singer-songwriter, artist and poet known by the stage name Captain Beefheart. His musical work was conducted with a rotating ensemble of musicians called the Magic Band (1965–1982), with whom he recorded 13 studio albums. Noted for his powerful singing voice with its wide range, Van Vliet also played the harmonica, saxophone and numerous other wind instruments. His music blended rock, blues and psychedelia with avant-garde and contemporary experimental composition. Beefheart was also known for exercising an almost dictatorial control over his supporting musicians, and for often constructing myths about his life.

During his teen years in Lancaster, California, Van Vliet developed an eclectic musical taste and formed friendship with Frank Zappa, with whom he sporadically collaborated. He began performing with his Captain Beefheart persona in 1964 and joined the original Magic Band line-up, initiated by Alexis Snouffer, in 1965. The group drew attention with their cover of Bo Diddley's “Diddy Wah Diddy”, which became a regional hit. It was followed by their acclaimed debut album 'Safe As Milk', released in 1967 on Buddah Records. After being dropped by two consecutive record labels, they signed to Zappa's Straight Records. As producer, Zappa granted Beefheart unrestrained artistic freedom in making 1969's 'Trout Mask Replica', which ranked 58th in Rolling Stone magazine's 2003 list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. In 1974, frustrated by lack of commercial success, he released two albums of more conventional rock music that were critically panned; this move, combined with not having been paid for a European tour, and years of enduring Beefheart's strict discipline, led the entire band to quit. Beefheart eventually formed a new Magic Band with a group of younger musicians and regained contemporary approval through three final albums: 'Shiny Beast (Bat Chain Puller)' (1978), 'Doc At The Radar Station' (1980) and 'Ice Cream For Crow' (1982).

Van Vliet has been described as “...one of modern music's true innovators” with “...a singular body of work virtually unrivaled in its daring and fluid creativity.” Although he achieved little commercial or mainstream critical success, he sustained a cult following as a 'highly significant' and 'incalculable' influence on an array of New Wave, punk, post-punk, experimental and alternative rock musicians. Known for his enigmatic personality and relationship with the public, Van Vliet made few public appearances after his retirement from music (and from his Beefheart persona) in 1982. He pursued a career in art, an interest that originated in his childhood talent for sculpture, and a venture that proved to be his most financially secure. His expressionist paintings and drawings command high prices, and have been exhibited in art galleries and museums across the world. Van Vliet died in 2010, having suffered from multiple sclerosis for many years.

This extraordinary record catches the Captain at his best; live on stage in 1977. A few days after the show he said:

“This band is so good - the best I have ever had! They play with a smile. They really breathe up there when they are playing. After all this time I have finally found the band I'm looking for. It's amazing! Playing with this group is like going for a walk: they are so happy when they play. People I meet from the audience have been coming up and telling me how pleased they are that I have finally found a band that I am content with - and they are right.

The gig we played in Paris was monstrous. It was three days ago, but I haven't slept since - it was so good! And my voice, well, I can still feel that show in my voice. It hit me so hard I am down to three octaves .... I couldn't get over the way the audience was singing along with it, singing the words back at me in English - and I don't speak a word of French.

This group, I tell you, I couldn't believe that there were such nice people still around on this earth. True, they are playing what I have written, but they really are playing. This band is moving so fast that very soon I won't have to tell them anything. I really must say this band is the best ...”

Knighthood

The Melodic Rock Monsters Debut Album
"Bad Habits"Released In December.

Aristocratic English rock is the way Bruce Dickinson of Little Angels described Knighthood. He went on to say that vocalist Frank Knight, “Has the power of thunder”. You can hear this for yourself when this Cumbrian heavy rock quartet release their debut album of pure rock genius “Bad Habits” on 1st December 2014 via Red Lola Records.

Descending from the Fells of The Lake District, Knighthood have a variety of influences ranging from the hard hitting Euro sound of Accept and the unmistakable classic feel of rock Gods AC/DC. This foursome have skilfully crafted a riveting sound that is laced with hooky riffs and under pinned with powerful vocals.

Formed in 2011 and comprised of Frank Knight (Vocals), Paul Curtis (Guitars), Spaniard Luis Antonio Guttera (Bass) & John Powney (Drums). Knighthood have worked hard on crafting a sound and quality that is far beyond their new status. They have recently secured support slots with Little Angels, Toseland & Skiltron (who Frank guest sang with at 2013 Bloodstock Festival). The band have already massed a growing following and a reputation for delivering a stellar live show. They have worked tirelessly on crafting a killer live set with sing along chants and well-crafted vocals, that will get into your head and not leave you alone.

In the Autumn of 2013 the foursome released their debut EP “Permission to Ride”. Which was greeted by rave reviews and airplay on Real Radio XS, Planetmosh and a host of Independent stations in the UK, Europe, USA, Japan and South America.

“Knighthood sound like they have been sent on a holy quest to bring back some good old fashioned hard rock into the world and on the strength of this EP they appear to have succeeded. I can’t wait to hear more! ”
Dazzle Rebel - TBFM Magazine

“Planetmosh Rating 10 AWESOME, THE GOOD: Too much to mention! THE BAD: Absolutely nothing bad about this group or album. A four member strong band of likeminded guys looking for a new edge and fresh sound in the old school style. This debut EP is a brilliant showcase for their combined talents, a four track CD just absolutely loaded with pure rock genius.”
Dave Bradbery - Planetmosh.com

“Permission To Ride marks this debut out as a mighty introduction to a band who already have the songs to make a huge impact”
Fireworks Magazine Dec 13

“Bad Habits” is a hefty slab of 11 hard hitting heavy rock songs, From the opening title track with its powerful riffs and chanty chorus to the Thin Lizzy style duelling guitars of “Widow Ride” and the slower but catchy as hell “Crying To The Moon”. This quartet of likeminded rockers have delivered a debut offering that is destined to propel Knighthood to another level.

The Pineapple Thief have released their new album Magnolia via Kscope.  Magnolia follows acclaimed 2012 album All The Wars and marks an important turning point for the band, as they expand their musical horizons beyond the progressive sphere.

Recorded at Snap Studios and mixed at Strongroom Studios in London, Magnolia represents the ultimate culmination of songwriter & guitarist Bruce Soord’s ongoing quest to raise spirits and connect.  A devastating yet uplifting collection of 12 beautifully crafted songs, it showcases the band’s intuitive chemistry and soulful demeanour, cramming a vast array of emotional shades and inspirational ideas into its 47 mesmerising minutes.  Veering from the strident opening assault of Simple As That, due to be the first single, through to the cinematic sweep of the closing track Bond, it marks an important step in the band’s story, while skilfully encapsulating everything that has made their musical journey such a relentlessly fascinating one.

“All I ever wanted was to write catchy songs that stay with people” comments founder Bruce Soord, explaining how this record represents an important evolutionary phase for The Pineapple Thief.   “The striking thing is that there are no long tunes… all I care about now is writing a good song.  I don’t think about whether it’s rock or progressive or commercial or anything like that.  As time went on, I discovered I could say everything I wanted to say within a shorter period of time.”

New drummer Dan Osborne, also heavily involved in the production of Magnolia, brought fresh energy and ideas to The Pineapple Thief, strongly contributing to steer the band in a new direction. Completing the line-up are solid bassist Jon Sykes and keyboard maestro Steve Kitch.  While string arrangements are courtesy of regular collaborator Andrew Skeet of The Divine Comedy, the stunning final mix was crafted by mix engineer Adam Noble, who has previously worked on albums from the likes of Placebo, Guillemots, Paul McCartney, Robbie Williams and Belgium alt rock band dEUS.  The artwork for Magnolia was created by French artist Patrick Gonzales (http://www.patrickgonzales.net).

Formed in 1999 by founder and chief songwriter Bruce Soord as an experimental bedroom project, The Pineapple Thief have since continued to evolve and refine their sound.  They’re seen by many as one of the most interesting and innovative rock bands the UK have produced in recent years. Previous albums like Someone Here Is Missing (2010) and All The Wars (2012) have made their reputation and fan base stronger, resulting in interest from a wider audience.  Bruce Soord also collaborates with other Kscope artists, joining forces with Jonas Renkse of Swedish band Katatonia on their critically acclaimed Wisdom Of Crowds project.  Along with this collaboration we saw Bruce join Katatonia on their recent Dethroned & Uncrowned Unplugged acoustic European tour.

With the new sound akin to the likes of Muse and Biffy Clyro, Magnolia has all the potential to bring The Pineapple Thief to the masses.  This, their tenth record, could not only be a milestone, but also a mainstream breakthrough for the band.  With Magnolia they have created 12 musical gems that defy all classifications - Anthemic, catchy, intense, honest and straight from the heart.

RUSH
With more than 40 million records sold worldwide and countless sold-out tours, Rush – Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart – is not only one of the most inventive and compelling groups in rock history, but remains one of the most popular.  The RIAA® has certified Rush for the third most consecutive gold/platinum studio albums by a rock band, topped only by the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.  Rush’s vast catalogue includes such classics as 1974’s self-titled debut, 1976’s 2112, 1981’s Moving Pictures, 1996’s Test For Echo, and 2002’s Vapor Trails. Rush released their 20th studio album, Clockwork Angels, in 2012 via Anthem/Roadrunner Records.  The critically-acclaimed collection marks their first studio recording since 2007’s Snakes & Arrows, and debuted at #1 in Canada and #2 on the Billboard 200, matching the highest chart debut of the band’s career.  In addition to their commercial success, Rush has also been recognized with a number of Juno Awards and multiple Grammy® nominations, including one for the acclaimed documentary “Rush: Beyond The Lighted Stage.”

Enjoying a pop culture renaissance, Rush made a rare television appearance - their first in over 30 years - on Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report” and a memorable cameo in the film “I Love You, Man.”  In 2013 Rush was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to the delight of fans around the world.  During the successful Clockwork Angels tour, The Globe & Mail hailed Rush as “one of the few bands anywhere that just keeps getting better” while a career-chronicling Rolling Stone feature summed up the renowned rock trio’s continuing artistic vitality by observing, “It’s true that Rush doesn’t mean today what it did in ’76 or even ’96. It may mean more.”

Dalton Return with New Studio Album "Pit Stop" In October

Together with Europe and Treat, for a few years in the late 80’s, Dalton was a force to be reckoned with in Sweden. They enjoyed successful touring, teen media coverage, TV appearances and a string of radio hits. Even world stars such as Bon Jovi and Michael Bolton provided original songs to their two albums.

The band, formed by ex-Treat drummer Mats Dahlberg and named after his nickname, went all in with the current trends in melodic hair metal. Their image was cutting edge with designer outfits and enough hair spray every night to challenge the average user’s yearly consumption.

The band was killed by grunge in the early 90´s, a destiny shared by many bands of the 80´s.
“I left the band because I wanted a harder edge while the rest of the guys wanted to go softer”, Mats explains. He formed the short lived band Speedy Gonzales with world renowned guitarist Tommy Denander and Therion-singer Thomas Vikström, but the project folded before it took off. The rest of the Dalton members continued with a replacement drummer, but shortly called it a day. Dalton was left behind in the pit stop, dried out of gas.
25 years after their debut album “The Race Is On”, the original members came back with a vengeance and a reunion filmed for TV. “That’s how it started”, Mats explains. “A producer called me and asked if we would reunite and if they could film it for a documentary. I thought it was a joke”. “So did I”, Bosse laughs, “but it was true - and from the first rehearsal it was like time had stood still. It was so much fun!”

Old hits were polished to shine and the success at premiere gig when opening for Scorpions in Sweden in December 2012 was a fact. “That night back in December ignited the fuse, we all felt the same”, says Bosse – “let’s get the Dalton wheels in motion again. We want to celebrate the legacy of the 80’s rock scene by putting out a new album and take it on tour. Just like we did back in the days”.

Loaded with inspiration and dedication the band went through demos made for the never recorded third album along with some newly written songs. They ended up with 11 pure excellent tracks crafted for an 80’s melodic rock album in a contemporary suit. In good company with magic minded producer Erik MĂĄrtensson (Eclipse, W.E.T.) the band hit the Blowout Studios in April and are now in the process of finalizing the album due for release this fall.

A first shimmering taste of the songs from album was revealed at the Frontiers Rock Festival where the band premiered the track “Hey You” in front of an ecstatic crowd. Dalton is fueled up and back on the race track, ready to go – the race is on!

Each of the members of Mr. Big is also a reputable virtuoso in the music industry. Billy Sheehan has won dozens of “Best Bass Player” awards in numerous magazines, including an unprecedented 14 years in a row from Player Magazine, Japan’s number-one music magazine. Paul Gilbert is recognized as one of the top guitarists of this generation. Aside from the tons of albums he released since his departure from Mr. Big, he frequently holds clinics and designs guitars for Ibanez. Former Styx Frontman Dennis DeYoung

Delivers A Live Album of Styx Classics

On March 18th, 2014; Dennis DeYoung, the legendary front man of Styx and author of five key songs that define that band’s career, returned to Los Angeles for the first time during his solo career to a sold out show at the El Rey Theater. Recorded live for AXS-TV and captured in pristine HD quality, the performance has been slated for release via Frontiers Records.

Los Angeles FM radio giant 100.3 The Sound aided in show promotion with morning show host Uncle Joe Benson offering tickets to listeners in limited supply, just 20 seats available to winning entrants. In just a few short hours of the show’s announcement, tickets sold out at an astounding fan appreciation price of just five dollars. With gratitude to fans that have supported DeYoung over the years, the show was truly a gift of thanks to long-time fans that haven’t seen him perform outside of Styx in Los Angeles, ever.

With doors opening at 8:00 pm, fans lined the sidewalk starting in the 6 o’clock hour on Wilshire Boulevard with tickets in hand and the buzz was about what songs the band might perform. Photos and reviews of the previous show in Joliet, IL had revealed guitarist August Zadra taking the vocal lead on select songs and fans shared the amazing sound of the band being so close to the record it was guaranteed hit all the right chords with lifelong fans! Still, what patrons would get tonight was an absolute surprise.

The amazing stage set was designed by DeYoung’s son and through the black backdrop shone multiple gemlike circles that glowed from one side of the stage to the other like a blanket of stars with the colors of the rainbow. Neon-like spots aimed both high and low rained down an array of light that swept over the audience. Packed from the front of the stage to the back of the house, the inside of the El Rey seemed more like a night at the Forum in 1985; just bigger than life and ready for broadcast.

Opening the show with “The Grand Illusion,” the band performed for an hour and a half, and had DeYoung interacting with the crowd. On two occasions he was handed items that from the audience that he shared with fans. One was a copy of the Styx “Paradise Theater” album, on vinyl, and another was a fan-made sign requesting a personal song favorite – “Desert Moon.”

Dennis and the members of the band took well over an hour of personal time upstairs at a VIP meet and greet with fans and Los Angeles based friends who attended the gala. AXS-TV brought in a 25+ foot boom arm and 8 cameras to capture the magic of the show and the house production offered simply the most crisp and well perfected tone the band could create for a night that fans are going to cherish on DVD for the “REST of Times.

THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY THEATRE EDITION

The Band’s Ambitious 1974 Album Expanded With Unreleased Tracks
And Orchestral Pieces Along With Rare Video Footage

2CD/2DVD, 1CD, Digital Download: November 24th 2014
Limited Edition Vinyl : January 13th 2015

In 1974, Jethro Tull announced plans for WarChild, a multi-faceted project that was to encompass a feature-length film, a soundtrack album, as well a new album from the band. In October of that year, Tull released a 10-song album that would climb to #2 in the U.S. and the top 15 in the U.K., but the film and accompanying soundtrack were shelved. To commemorate the 40-year anniversary of this ambitious experiment, Parlophone will revisit WarChild with several releases.

WARCHILD: THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY THEATRE EDITION will be available as a limited edition 2-CD/2-DVD set on November 17TH. Highlights from the set include:
-
Original album and bonus tracks (three previously unreleased), remixed in 5.1 surround and stereo by Steven Wilson 10 orchestral pieces (nine previously unreleased) written for the film’s soundtrack, 4 of which are remixed in 5.1 surround and stereo by Steven Wilson
-          Flat transfers of the original LP mix at 96/24, and the quadrophonic version (with 2 bonus tracks) in 4.0.
-
“The Third Hoorah” promo footage, and footage from a January 1974 photo session/press conference where the WarChild project was announced.
-          An 80-page booklet featuring an extensive article on the preparation and recording of the album, a film script synopsis, track-by-track annotations by Ian Anderson, plus rare and unseen photographs.

In addition a new stereo remix of WarChild will also be released on single CD and digitally on November 17th and on limited edition, 180-gram single vinyl pressing on January 13th.
Originally released in 1974, WarChild features one of the group’s most prolific lineups and includes Ian Anderson, Martin Barre, John Evans, Jeffrey Hammond-Hammond and Barrie Barlow. Unlike its predecessors – Thick As A Brick and A Passion Play – which featured 40-odd minutes of continuous music, WarChild marked a return to songs of a more conventional length, including the FM-radio staple, “Bungle In The Jungle.” The new Theatre Edition unearths a trio of unreleased recordings: “Tomorrow Was Today,” “Good Godmother,” and a different arrangement of “WarChild” recorded after the version on the final album.

Fans intrigued by the appearance of “WarChild Waltz” on the 2002 reissue of WarChild will finally get the chance to hear the rest of the mostly orchestral music the band recorded for the soundtrack album. About 30 minutes was recorded during sessions in 1973 and 1974. Soon after, the music was consigned to the archives for 40 years – until now.
