YNGWIE J MALMSTEEN
and RISING FORCE
NOW YOUR SHIPS ARE BURNED
THE POLYDOR ALBUMS 1984-1990

9TH MARCH 2015

This set brings together the Polydor albums recorded by Yngwie J Malmsteen during the period 1984 – 1990. All the tracks have been digitally remastered and the set comes complete with new artwork and liner notes by respected rock journalist, Malcolm Dome.

Lauded and acclaimed for over 30 years, Swedish guitarist Yngwie J Malmsteen is a true guitar hero. A demo he recorded in 1978, Demo Powerhouse, brought Malmsteen to the attention of Mike Varney of Shrapnel Records, who four years later, took the 18 year old prodigy to the U.S.A. After recording an album with Steeler in 1983, he went on to join former Rainbow vocalist Graham Bonnet in Alcatrazz for their album No Parole From Rock ‘N’ Roll later the same year.

In 1984 Malmsteen struck out on his own with Rising Force, a Grammy-nominated album which gave him the boost to really strike out on his own. In 1985 the next album with his band, now known as Yngwie J Malmsteen’s Rising Force, was called Marching Out and firmly established him as one of the bright lights of the era.

Next came Trilogy, which reached even higher in the U.S. charts and this was followed by Odyssey, the album that became his biggest release internationally.
The 1989 live album, Trial By Fire: Live In Leningrad was followed by the 1990 album, Eclipse.

This period comprising five studio albums and one live recording was Malmsteen’s most productive period and established his reputation as one of the genre’s most inventive and appealing guitarists.
